Special Projects Coordinator - Homestead, Florida Office

Job Summary:
Personally service tests determined to be special projects such as tests with fast turnaround and new specimen mounting procedures.  Maintain weather instruments and data acquisition system.  Produce daily and monthly weather summary reports.  

Duties and Responsibilities:
1.  Handle all aspects of “special projects” including: 

  • Discuss test options with customers and recommend test protocols
  • Check in test specimens upon arrival at test site
  • Design and construct new mounting fixtures as needed
  • Mount specimens in outdoor test field
  • Analyze data and write lab reports
  • Create and document new mounting/ test procedures
  • Provide billing summaries of material and labor costs to accounting department for invoicing
  • Other tasks as deemed necessary or requested  

2.  Operation of weather station:

  • Maintain weather sensors including cleaning, maintenance, repair, and calibration            
  • Service and maintain data acquisition system            
  • Produce daily solar radiation reports            
  • Summarize weather data into monthly summary reports  

3. Evaluations and Measurements:

  • Inspect and evaluate specimens as needed        
  • Measure surface appearance properties using handheld equipment            
  • Handle inquiries from customers with questions about their test data     

Working Conditions:
This position involves mostly indoor work, although a certain amount of hands-on outside work is required to mount and retrieve specimens in test field.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • BS in physics, chemistry, materials science, mathematics, or other related discipline 
  • 0 to 2 years experience in a scientific or technical area
  • Customer service experience highly desired. Must be able to work one on one with customers
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and MS Word required
  • Fluent English in conversation and writing Experience in statistical software and databases helpful
  • Electronics experience very helpful: data loggers, thermocouples, ability to read basic circuit diagrams, soldering, etc

We will train the successful candidate on all the specific responsibilities required for this position. We need someone with the correct mix of background skills and personality traits to ensure that the training will be a success.   We need a person with good scientific basic knowledge to design, perform, and document specialized testing. The successful applicant will be working with our Technical Director to write special test reports, perform basic test research, monitor and record weather data, consult with clients on test data, and create new ways to get more out of our standard testing. All necessary specific training will be given to the successful candidate. This is a great job for someone who has good science background/affinity and loves to be creative. You will be working "in the lab" helping our customers get the most out of their weathering testing.

Job Summary:
  • Disassembles malfunctioning instruments or test equipment and examines and tests mechanisms and circuitry for defects.  Replaces or repairs defective parts, reassembles equipment and tests for conformance to specifications.
  • Inspects and calibrates equipment periodically to ensure functioning within established standards.
  • Must be able to travel domestically up to 50% of time.  May include some international travel.

Requirements:
  • Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology, Electronics or equivalent from technical school and 2-4 years experience in electro-mechanical troubleshooting and repair.

Corporate Director of Technical Service - Westlake, Ohio Corporate Office

We are looking for a Corporate Director of Technical Services to join our management team. This is not an IT position but related to service/repair of testing equipment. You will be responsible to strengthen and develop the field service organization by establishing and implementing the service business model, improve service value to our customers and ensure compliance to company policies and procedures. Travel - 10%. 

Job Summary includes, but is not limited to: 

  • Actively direct the development of and revision to the Q-Lab Service and Repair model, resulting in improved field service productivity, particularly in our Far East service territories
  • Develop and maintain a customer centered service culture consistent with the values established at Q-Lab 
  • Set clear, quantifiable goals for managers and service reps, including systems for monitoring, analyzing and reporting progress toward these while continuously communicating these expectations
  • Ensure disciplined use of systems, conformity to policies, procedures, documentation and regulatory requirements 
  • Oversee tester repair activity for US customers, foreign reps and branch offices
  • Manage a program for staff development
  • Manage and maximize customer satisfaction 
  • Manage and direct the Service Contract System
  • Provide input to the VP of Marketing for pricing of Service and Repair products 
  • Achieve established financial, operations and budget goals
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field and a minimum of 10 years of global supervisory/management experience.   Expertise in troubleshooting electro-mechanical devices.
