US Webinar - Corrosion Accelerated Test with Controlled Humidity (CATCH)

Q-Lab is hosting a webinar on Corrosion Accelerated Test with Controlled Humidity (CATCH) on 23 April at 8:00 AM and 11:00 AM EDT.

As auto manufacturers shift to lightweight materials to increase fuel efficiency and improve performance of batteries in electric vehicles, use of aluminum alloys is increasing due to their strength and light weight as compared to steel. To evaluate the corrosion-resistant performance of coatings on aluminum, SAE China has developed the Corrosion Accelerated Test with Controlled Humidity (CATCH) laboratory test cycle.

This webinar presentation describes the results of an interlaboratory study involving CATCH and five other common laboratory test protocols. The study involved more than 1000 test specimens representing two grades of aluminum, three types of pre-treatments, three types of electrophoretic coatings, and with and without topcoats. CATCH was shown to deliver excellent correlation to two types of outdoor tests, leading to a second study that attempted to increase the speed of the test while maintaining correlation.
