Maintenance Technician - Buckeye, Arizona

  • Our Arizona Testing Services facility located in Buckeye, Arizonahas a current need for a Maintenance Technician to perform
    repairs and preventative maintenance on test equipment, water purification system, and building systems.

    Responsibilities include:

    Inspect, operate, or test machinery and equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions.
  • Repair or replace defective equipment parts, using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment.
  • Perform water quality testing.
  • Measure mirror reflectance.
  • Enter maintenance data into excel spreadsheet.
  • Assist with calibration of measurement equipment.
  • Order parts, supplies, and equipment from catalogs and suppliers via purchase orders.
  • Set up special projects and perform downloads of all data loggers.

Qualifications needed:

  • Mechanical and electrical experience.  
  • Formal education plus experience preferred.
  • Must have experience using Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Must be able to interact with other field and office employees in a professional manner.
  • Must be detail-oriented with good organizational awareness. 
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and clearly in English both written and verbal.

Assistant Managing Director-Operations - Homestead, Florida

 The Assistant Managing Director - Operations will be a key member of small, dedicated team running our weathering test sites and laboratories at Q-Lab in Florida, Arizona, and Germany. Due to continued growth, this is a new position that will report to our Managing Director - Florida. We are looking for an outgoing, highly detailed and hands-on manager, engineer, scientist, or technically minded individual with superior customer service and selling skills. This role requires a significant amount of flexibility, business acumen and technical proficiency.  As the main administrator of Q-Lab’s procedures, operation functions, and strategies for supervisor training and development, you will be accountable for contributing to our team’s success.


Primary Responsibilities


    • Interact with technicians through VP-level customers on general business and technical issues
    • Review and analyze current business strategies business
    • Educate customers and prospects on their testing options and standards that we use
    • Interpret customer instructions into standard test input
    • Explain test reports and billing to customers
    • Monitor needs for lab, personnel, and field planning
    • Review current needs and create expansion plans
    • Create process control charts of daily activities using Excel
    • Correctly file calibration information in computer
    • Determine need for and order parts, supplies, and test materials
    • Document errors and implement corrective actions
    • Be one of several key contacts for ISO 17025 accreditation
    • Standard Operational and Work Flow Procedures
    • Manage, coach and develop supervisor training programs
    • Conduct regular employee meetings
    • Promote positive involvement
    • Oversee special testing requirements
    • Plan test projects
    • Assist in pricing for special projects


We require:


  • Minimum BS/BA level degree in a science or science-related field, or equivalent non-science degree with technical experience
  • At least 8-10 years of experience with laboratory testing, procedures, and management
  • Computer experience: file handling, internet, email, software: Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Adobe PDF
  • Customer service and selling experience
  • Experience in managing supervisor level employees
  • Superior communication skills – both verbal and writing
  • Track record of solid performance in present and past work record

Field Repair Technician - Westlake, Ohio

The Field Repair Technician provides primary repair support to customers by traveling to customer sites or by telephone and/or email.  Must demonstrate the ability to commission, repair, calibrate, and adjust accelerated weather test instruments and test equipment, by performing the following duties:

  • Listens to customer description of the problem they are having and asks appropriate questions to determine the
    root cause of the problem.
    Provides the customer with recommendation to resolve the issue and or follows up with on-going issues
    with the customer. This may include, but is not limited to; suggesting a change in the way the customer operates the equipment including good testing practices, sending replacement parts, referring the call to a Field Repair Technician for an on-site resolution, and/or visiting the customer to diagnose/repair.
    Record contact with customer in a Contact Resource Management system to include the nature of the problem, corrective action, and follow up activities to ensure resolution.
  • Investigate quality and/or design issues and makes recommendations to the appropriate department for resolution.
    Reads instrument dial or scope, or observes viewing screen, that indicates resistance, capacitance, continuity, or wave pattern and recognizes defects, such as short circuit or current leakage.
    Records and communicates type and quantity of defect to engineering for investigation and corrective action purposes.
    Diagnose malfunctioning instruments or test equipment and examines and tests mechanisms and circuitry for failure mode.
    Replaces or repairs defective parts according to OEM specifications.
    Perform hands-on repairs on instrument or test equipment, and tests assembly for conformance to in accordance to OEM specifications.
    Inspects instruments and test equipment periodically and adjusts to ensure functioning within specified standards.
    Calibrates instruments or test equipment according to established standards.
    Other duties as required.

     Requirements Education/Experience:

    High School Diploma or Trade School Diploma and an Associate's degree (A. S.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical
    school graduate with five or more years of related experience with repair support or field repair experience.

     Language Ability:

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 
    Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

     Reasoning Ability:

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with
    problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

     Computer Skills:

    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office software to include Word, Excel and Power Point and must possess the ability to type proficiently.

     Hand Tools, Power Tools, and Test Equipment:

    Must be able to demonstrate the effective use of hand tools; specialty testing equipment/meters, cutting metal, drilling, and tapping on
    various types of alloys.

     Certificates and Licenses: Soldering Certification required.

     Math Ability:

    Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
