We are looking for a Software Developer to join our nimble, fast-paced, & effective team. At Q-Lab, Software Developers perform a wide range of duties. End users and corporate managers regularly submit software upgrade and change requests into our ticketing system. You will be responsible for business analysis, requirements definition, and software development to solve these issues. It’s common to lend your opinions to a business manager one day, only to be coding the solution in SQL and .NET the following day.

 

We cross train our developers on all platforms, tools, languages, and systems. Our developers regularly comment on how exciting, fun, and challenging it is to be given such an unusually broad scope of work. Our ultimate goal is to apply technology in ways that increase revenue, decrease costs, and/or increase customer satisfaction.

Software Developer’s Scope of Responsibility:

-          Analyzes business problems and suggests ways of applying software solutions to solve them.

-          Produces software for web, database, and client server environments.

-          Uses Microsoft Visual Studio (Winforms, ASP.NET, .NET Framework, VB .NET, C#) to develop front-ends and business logic.

-          Uses Microsoft SQL Server to design, modify, and write business logic for databases.

-          Uses Crystal Reports and SSRS Reporting Services to develop reports.

-          Follows Q-Lab’s standard development practices and techniques.

-          Works on front office (e.g. Sales, Repair, Marketing), back office (e.g. Accounting, Purchasing, Order Desk) and LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Systems) software.

-          Writes business requirements and technical specification documents.

 

We Require/Prefer:

o   Associates degree in Computer Science/IT, equivalent professional work experience, or the raw intellectual aptitude.

o   Evidence of achievement in work or school history.

o   Experience with Microsoft’s .NET development tools.

o   Knowledge of relational database theory.

o   Ability to think strategically and assess business value.

o   Ability to devise creative solutions to problems.

 We are seeking a confident, Technical Inside Sales Representative to help grow our industry-leading equipment and services business.  As a member of our National Sales team, you will deliver a high level of customer satisfaction and expand sales opportunities. You will perform technical demonstrations to small audiences, consult with customers about their testing needs and respond to customer questions.  You will mostly work by phone and email, with only occasional domestic travel.  This is an excellent opportunity to join our company, to grow with us and share in our success.

 

Key Responsibilities for our Technical Sales Representatives:

  • Pursue sales leads received from industry ads, trade shows, internet web inquiries and other sources
  • Engage in proactive outbound selling efforts via the telephone
  • Travel, when required, throughout the U.S. (and internationally, on occasion) to visit existing and new customers to educate, close sales, and build relationships
  • Must have the ability and desire to prospect for new customers, identify decision makers, and sell our products
  • Give technical presentations at seminars and symposiums
  • Prepare quotations
  • Edit, manage, and maintain database of existing and potential customers (CRM system)
  • Meet established sales targets
  • Attend Trade Shows
  • Prepare reports of sales visits, trade shows, and seminars
  • Coordinate and conduct hands-on technical training at customer site
  • Follow-up with existing customers to confirm customer is satisfied with Q-Lab’s products and answer any technical questions
  • Advise customers on types of equipment to purchase, considering such factors as costs, space availability, and intended end-use application

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of industrial sales experience (preferably in capital equipment)
  • Engineering or Science related degree preferred
  • 10%-15% of overnight travel in US and possible occasional international travel
  • Aptitude to understand, differentiate, and effectively sell technical products
  • Business acumen with critical problem solving skills
  • Self-motivated
  • Possess solid time management skills
  • Professional sales skills
  • Excellent phone skills and technical writing skills
