As a key member of a dedicated team, you will work in our growing weathering and corrosion testing laboratory at Q-Lab Germany.  With highly detailed and hands-on engineering or scientific aptitude, you must also have strong customer service skills and a desire to work independently. You will have a high degree of versatility in this role. You will actively promote the lab to new and existing customers, handle quotations and billing, help execute new tests and calibrate and maintain equipment, create technical reports, and help ensure we adhere to our quality system.

In this versatile position, your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform exposure testing with state-of-the-art laboratory devices
  • Calibrate and maintain equipment
  • Act as the Quality Manager for the laboratory
  • Ensure we adhere to our quality system
  • Create technical reports
  • Analyze information, problems, situations, practices, or procedures
  • Analyze complex technical data
  • Create cost estimates from our price list and instructions in Excel
  • Work closely with customers and also promote the lab to new and existing customers
  • Coordinate closely with our staff at our Florida laboratory on all tests and exposure
  • Travel to USA for training
  • Translate many of our current English documents into German

Qualifications – Education/Experience:

  • At least Bachelor’s level degree in a science or science-related field
  • Experience in working in a test laboratory: 3-5 years
  • Bilingual: Fluency in at least German and English, both written and spoken
  • Computers: file handling, internet, emailing
  • Software: Proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Adobe PDF, Windows Explorer
  • Managerial experience a plus
  • The ability to work as a team member and a team leader
  • Customer service experience essential
  • Statistics Level Math; knowledge of descriptive statistics such as max, min, averages, standard deviation, comparison of means, rank analysis
  • Able to perform repetitive work according to set procedures, sequence and pace
  • Able to work independently
  • Excellent communication skills - ability to communicate with people of different levels of technical aptitude, from PhD chemists to lab technicians to the sales people of our distributors

Desktop Support Technician - Westlake, Ohio USA

We are looking for a desktop support technician to provide customer service and end user support for Q-Lab’s worldwide information network. Reporting to the Network Systems Manager, the successful candidate will troubleshoot, research, and resolve computer related problems.

We have an international VPN data network with six locations around the world. Our current network size is roughly 180 users and computers, and 25 servers.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provides technical support for end-user issues via telephone calls, emails, and face-to-face requests.
  2. Uses remote support tools to control end-user PCs (e.g. remote desktop, Bomgar).
  3. Ensures timely follow-up and attention of end-user support cases.
  4. Documents, tracks, and monitors problems using the IT Helpdesk system.
  5. Engages end-user base to determine opportunities for improvement and effectively communicates value items.
  6. Evaluates the end-user experiences to find areas of inefficiency and opportunity. Tracks and organizes this information, and presents ideas to the Network Systems Manager.

Education, Experience and Skills:

1.    Associate's Degree in Information Technology, Networking, or equivalent work experience.
2.    Knowledgeable with common software applications: Windows OS, Microsoft Office, Web Browsers (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome), Anti-Virus.
3.    Knowledgeable with mobile phones, preferably the iPhone.
4.    Knowledgeable with peripheral devices (e.g. printers, label makers).
5.    Knowledge of Citrix XenApp and XenClient a plus!
6.    Strong customer-service orientation. Effective interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
7.    Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language to both technical and non-technical end-users.
8.    Has technical knowledge of PC and desktop hardware, preferably Dell.

  • Assist outside sales with cost and technical information
  • Maintain communication with the customer throughout the test life cycle
  • Travel is 5-10 times per year, to attend trade-shows, visit customers, or visit one of our other company facilities (Arizona and Ohio)
