We are looking for a Software Developer to join our nimble, fast-paced, & effective team. At Q-Lab, Software Developers perform a wide range of duties. You will be involved in business analysis and requirements definition, software development, and project management. It’s common to lend your opinions to the CFO and VP of Marketing one day, only to be coding the solution in SQL and .NET the following day.

All developers report directly to the Global Information Manager to keep the reporting structure flat. We cross train our developers on all platforms, tools, languages, and systems. Our developers regularly comment on how exciting, fun, and challenging it is to be given such an unusually broad scope of work. Our ultimate goal is to apply technology in ways that increase revenue, decrease costs, and/or increase customer satisfaction.

Software Developer’s Scope of Responsibility:

  • Analyzes business problems and suggests ways of applying software solutions to solve them.
  • Produces software for web, database, and client server environments. Also produces Q-Lab’s firmware, which controls the brain of our weathering testers.
  • Uses Microsoft Visual Studio (Winforms, ASP.NET, .NET Framework, VB .NET, C#) to develop front-ends and business logic.
  • Uses Microsoft SQL Server to design, modify, and write business logic for databases.
  • Uses Crystal Reports and SSRS Reporting Services to develop reports.
  • Uses Attolic (an Eclipse variant) and C to develop firmware.
  • Follows Q-Lab’s standard development practices and techniques.
  • Works on front office (e.g. Sales, Repair, Marketing), back office (e.g. Accounting, Purchasing, Order Desk) and LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Systems) software.
  • Writes business requirements and technical specification documents.

CAD Operator - Westlake R & D

We are looking for a detail oriented individual to create and modify 3D engineering drawings and assembly
drawings, bills of material, and other engineering documentation.  The individual should be proficient in 3D CAD
software such as SolidWorks or Inventor. The individual must be focused and energetic in finding information that
is necessary to complete documentation. The CAD Operator will work with engineering, purchasing, and production
people in a friendly and comfortable environment.  

Responsibilities include:

    • Create 3D models of parts and assemblies.
    • Create 2D detail drawings of parts and assemblies from 3D models.
    • Create and enter Bills of Material into our ERP system.
    • Create wiring and plumbing diagrams.
    • Interact with internal customers, vendors, and engineering support staff.

Billing and Collections Clerk - Westlake, Ohio

We have a current opening for an Billing and Collections Clerk in our Westlake corporate headquarters.

The areas of responsibility include:


Billing and Collections

  • Work with internal shipping departments on outgoing shipments
  • Enter customer invoices into MAS90 software according to department policies and deadlines
  • Email, upload and mail invoices to customers
  • Process credit card payments
  • Mail customer statements
  • Carry-out collection and reporting activities according to specific deadlines

Field Repair Technician - Westlake, Ohio

The Field Repair Technician provides primary repair support to customers by traveling to customer sites or by telephone and/or email.  Must demonstrate the ability to commission, repair, calibrate, and adjust accelerated weather test instruments and test equipment, by performing the following duties:

  • Listens to customer description of the problem they are having and asks appropriate questions to determine the
    root cause of the problem.
    Provides the customer with recommendation to resolve the issue and or follows up with on-going issues
    with the customer. This may include, but is not limited to; suggesting a change in the way the customer operates the equipment including good testing practices, sending replacement parts, referring the call to a Field Repair Technician for an on-site resolution, and/or visiting the customer to diagnose/repair.
    Record contact with customer in a Contact Resource Management system to include the nature of the problem, corrective action, and follow up activities to ensure resolution.
  • Investigate quality and/or design issues and makes recommendations to the appropriate department for resolution.
    Reads instrument dial or scope, or observes viewing screen, that indicates resistance, capacitance, continuity, or wave pattern and recognizes defects, such as short circuit or current leakage.
    Records and communicates type and quantity of defect to engineering for investigation and corrective action purposes.
    Diagnose malfunctioning instruments or test equipment and examines and tests mechanisms and circuitry for failure mode.
    Replaces or repairs defective parts according to OEM specifications.
    Perform hands-on repairs on instrument or test equipment, and tests assembly for conformance to in accordance to OEM specifications.
    Inspects instruments and test equipment periodically and adjusts to ensure functioning within specified standards.
    Calibrates instruments or test equipment according to established standards.
    Other duties as required.

     Requirements Education/Experience:

    High School Diploma or Trade School Diploma and an Associate's degree (A. S.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical
    school graduate with five or more years of related experience with repair support or field repair experience.

     Language Ability:

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 
    Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

     Reasoning Ability:

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with
    problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

     Computer Skills:

    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office software to include Word, Excel and Power Point and must possess the ability to type proficiently.

     Hand Tools, Power Tools, and Test Equipment:

    Must be able to demonstrate the effective use of hand tools; specialty testing equipment/meters, cutting metal, drilling, and tapping on
    various types of alloys.

     Certificates and Licenses: Soldering Certification required.

     Math Ability:

    Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
