We are looking for an exceptional Quality Control Electronics Technician who will work in the calibration and weathering testing labs in Westlake, Ohio. Reporting to the Director of Quality and Reliability, the successful candidate will be responsible for final inspection and acceptance of all incoming materials and our manufactured product prior to shipment. This position requires strong attention to detail and the ability to perform multiple ongoing tasks.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Investigates quality and/or design issues and makes recommendations to the appropriate department for resolution.
  • Preforms failure analysis on non-conforming electronic assemblies down to the component level to determine the root cause.
  • Records, summarizes and communicates root cause analysis including the type and quantity of defect to quality and engineering for further investigation and preventative action purposes.
  • Inspection of electronic first article submissions.
  • Testing of R&D electronic prototypes
  • Connects electronic assembly, component, or part to test instruments, such as ohmmeter, voltmeter, ammeter, Resistance Bridge, or oscilloscope, or to automatic or computerized test equipment.
  • Read instrument dial or scope, or observes viewing screen, that indicates resistance, capacitance, continuity, or wave pattern and recognizes defects, such as short circuit or current leakage.
  • Repairs printed circuit boards or electronic subassemblies to the component level.
  • Compares instrument reading or displays with standards and rejects defective units.
  • Records type and quantity of defect for new and used electronic parts and other parts as required.
  • Examines assembly, component, or part for defects, trouble shoots and replaces defective components or repairs defective wiring after testing.
  • Inspect and test incoming RMA parts for evaluation and crediting purposes (as required).
  • Diagnose malfunctioning instruments or test equipment and examines and tests mechanisms and circuitry for failure mode.
  • Replaces or repairs defective parts according to OEM specifications.
  • Inspects instruments and test equipment periodically and adjusts calibration to ensure functioning within specified standards.
  • Calibrates instruments or test equipment according to established standards.
  • Other duties as required.

We Require:

  • Soldering certification, IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620 (recommended but not required)
  • High School Diploma or Trade School Diploma and an Associate's degree (A. S.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school graduate with six months to one year related experience with board level repair (through hole and surface mount technology), lead and lead-free soldering.
  • Advanced mechanical and electrical skills.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions or procedure manuals.
  • Ability to discriminate between different colors.
  • Microsoft Office software to include Word, Excel and Power Point and must possess the ability to type on a keyboard, smartphone, or laptop/tablet proficiently.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Possess the ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables, and have the ability to come up with a sound resolution.
