We are seeking a confident Testing Lab Technician to help our customers, develop new business and meet sales goals. As a member of our Test Services team, you will deliver a high level of customer satisfaction as you conduct the testing. You will also consult with customers about their testing needs and respond to customer questions. This is an excellent opportunity to join our company, to grow with us and share in our success.
At Q-Lab Test Services, we operate a test laboratory that investigates the weathering durability of an extensive range of products and materials. We help our customers in the coatings, automotive and architectural industries make more durable products. In the Accelerated Laboratory, you will place specimens in weathering chambers to help get data in weeks, rather than subjecting them to years of exposure outdoors!
JOB SUMMARY
- Perform exposure testing of materials in an ISO accredited laboratory
- Ensure continuity of testing, maintain records and ensure secure custody of test specimens
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Process test specimens into the test laboratory
- Unpack new tests and prepare initial documentation
- Identify test specimens with unique marking
- Create test documentation
- Mount and expose the tests specimens into the test chamber
- Maintain log sheets
- Work with a daily calendar to perform scheduled tasks
- Perform evaluations and create progress reports
- Keep customer updated as necessary regarding test status
- Digital photography of test specimens
SKILLS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Previous lab experience, science degree or a combination of education and experience
- Science related degree preferred
- Critical problem solving skills
- Self-motivated
- Possess solid time management skills
- Clear and understandable writing skills in English
- Professional demeanor, organized and reliable
- Possess a strong work ethic and willingness to learn
- Results driven attitude
- Ability to excel in a fast paced environment
- Proficient computer skills -- Word, Excel, PowerPoint and others
INTER-RELATIONSHIPS
- Will be working with senior lab technicians to expose tests and to perform other services as necessary
- Will also work under close supervision of Lab Manager.
