Project Engineer (Westlake, Ohio)

The Project Engineer’s mission is to improve existing products, drive development of new products, and expand the technical expertise and knowledge base of the organization across all product lines.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Own multiple engineering projects including product developments, design improvements, and cost reductions
  • Plan and manage project requirements, technical risks, deliverables, and timelines
  • Design, build, and test prototypes to validate performance versus requirements
  • Lead cross-functional design reviews to drive collaborative solutions and decision making
  • Execute change management workflows to effectively implement changes

Key Qualifications, Talents, and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical)
  • Highly proficient with 3D CAD (Inventor, SolidWorks, etc.)
  • Experience with design translation to manufacturing: print standards, dimensioning, tolerancing, measurement systems
  • Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated skills in experimental methods and data-driven decision making
  • Strong project management experience with proven time management skills; ability to effectively manage multiple priorities
  • Hands-on approach with the ability to work independently with little supervision
  • First-hand experience with fabrication methods (sheet metal forming, machining, injection molding, 3D printing, assembly)
  • A thorough understanding of electro-mechanical components and systems, e.g. pneumatics, fans/blowers, VFD’s, transformers, relays, sensors, heaters, nozzles, solenoid valves, switches, pressure regulators, flow meters
  • Team player with ability to interface with Purchasing, Manufacturing, Marketing, IT
  • Ability to lead with open-mindedness and willingness to accept constructive criticism and feedback
  • Savvy communication and interpersonal skills required to positively lead and motivate others 

Desired Skills and Capabilities (not required)

  • Experience with control systems design, development, troubleshooting
  • Experience with fluid dynamics, i.e. air and water flow
  • LEAN/Six Sigma experience and/or certifications
  • Experience using structured change control processes
  • new product stage gates, quality management, engineering changes, product data management)
  • Experience with product and project financial management (total cost out, NPV analysis)
