Q-Lab Corporation is a global leader in providing material durability testing products. Since 1956, we have designed and manufactured laboratory test products such as weathering testers, light stability testers, and corrosion testers. We also perform contract test services for weathering and corrosion testing, including both laboratory and natural exposure tests. We maintain a global presence with facilities in the U.S., England, Germany, and China. Our world-class corporate headquarters and manufacturing facility are located in Westlake, Ohio.
We are looking for an electronics engineer to expand and enhance our line of weathering, light stability, and corrosion test chambers.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Engaging in all phases of electrical subsystem and sensor product development, including concept, design, documentation, prototype, test, and manufacturing
- Designing and developing hardware to work with devices, sensors, and other Q-Lab test chamber peripherals
- Helping develop control systems algorithms to improve control system performance
- Troubleshooting low level controller/software related problems
- Writing test instructions, test reports, and engineering change notices
- Developing innovative designs to meet all requirements for safety, performance, reliability and manufacturability
- Designing circuit boards including schematics, bills of material, PC board layout
- Recommending design and/or material improvements for existing products
- Developing test procedures to validate new designs
- Providing technical assistance to the purchasing, service, sales, marketing, and production departments
Key Qualifications, Talents, and Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics Engineering
- Proven track record in a product development environment, with embedded microcontrollers, analog and digital circuit design
- Experience with I2C, SPI, and UART and control systems is HIGHLY desirable
- Embedded firmware experience is a plus
- Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem solving skills
- Proficient in writing clear and concise technical documents
- Excellent verbal communications skills
- Understands electro/mechanical systems
- Ability to switch between multiple projects
- Hands-on with the ability to work independently and with little supervision
- Ability to interface with Marketing, Engineering, Sales and Information Systems
